What is General Surgery?

General surgery, despite its name, is a surgical specialty that focuses mainly in the torso area on abdominal organs like the intestines including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts as well as hernias.

Dr. Hollis performs a wide variety of General Surgery/Digestive Surgery procedures:

Trauma Surgery - i.e., surgical removal of the gallbladder, ruptures of the appendix, and small intestine obstructions, etc among other common emergency procedures.

Colorectal Surgery - i.e., ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, diverticulitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, hemorrhoids, cyst removal, etc.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - damage to the esophagus produced by an abnormal reflux in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach.
